Russian Towers group and Kronshtadt Administration will create telecom infrastructure for the town
Russian Towers group and Kronshtadt Administration are creating telecommunications infrastructure for seamless mobile coverage of central Kronshtadt.
Russian Towers group and Kronshtadt District Administration, St. Petersburg, have signed a cooperation agreement in the area of development of the information and telecommunication infrastructure in the town. Within the contract implementation, a working group was created with the participation of representatives of Russian Towers, District Administration and committees of St. Petersburg – Urban Planning and Architecture Committee, Committee for State Control, Use and Protection of Historical and Cultural Monuments, Informatization and Communications Committee.
An opinion survey and drive tests of the signal quality of all federal communications operators were conducted in order to determine the district need for mobile communications development. The studies detected that the district significantly lags behind the modern coverage standards. It was recognized that the best solution would be not to create separate communication facilities, but to implement comprehensive district coverage with telecommunications infrastructure.
Especially for Kronshtadt, specialists of Russian Towers developed an engineering solution of low supports compliant with all requirements of the city committees. A number of supports are planned to include additional functional capabilities for the island’s residents and visitors – benches, information boards, and mobile phone recharging stations.
The operations of the first, preparatory, stage of the project have now been completed. Over 20 base stations of communications service providers shall be commissioned until December 2019. The project implementation will result in qualitative improvement of the communications and data transfer signal for all communications operators in the region. The created telecom infrastructure is ready for 5G testing.
The working group participants are considering an option of engineering and organizational enablement of placement of equipment improving the urban environment safety at the facilities of Russian Towers – video surveillance cameras, sensors of the Traffic Control Centre, sensors for weather and environmental condition monitoring.
After the implementation of the project in the historical part of Kronshtadt, Russian Towers group of companies is planning to develop a telecom infrastructure project for the new 18th district of the island.
Alexander Chub, President of Russian Towers group:
“The project of comprehensive coverage of Kronshtadt with fourth-generation mobile communications is a flagship for Russian Towers. An innovative approach to implementation of the state-of-the-art engineering solutions, our organizational expertise and investment potential will be put to good use in this project.
Russian Towers is developing and creating a unified telecom infrastructure for urban and the traffic environment, for territories with different complexity levels and configurations – trade and exhibition centres, residential complexes and highways – with simultaneous connection of several communications service providers.
Location of Kronshtadt on an island, its unique urban environment, protected areas, sophisticated underground engineering systems have complicated our task, but have also made it very interesting. Owing to the collaboration with the district administration and the representatives of St. Petersburg committees, the project we have been working on for almost a year is turning real and will contribute a lot to the district development”.
Oleg Dovganyuk, the head of the Kronshtadt District Administration, St. Petersburg:
“Implementation of this project will help to cover whole Kronshtadt with the modern communications networks. Residents and business will obtain access to fast wireless Internet”.
