Russian Towers created telecom infrastructure for a large shopping centre in Irkutsk.

Russian Towers group of companies, the largest Russian telecom infrastructure operator, announces completion of construction of a distributed antenna system at the BUM shopping and leisure centre in Irkutsk.

The system is intended for sustainable coverage for the networks of all the region’s mobile operators in the shopping centre territory, which will enable visitors to use mobile Internet at a speed of up to 150 Mb/s.

The distributed antenna system from Russian Towers has been designed for high-quality telecommunications based on all current standards both in and outside of the building of the shopping centre. This infrastructure will also secure full LTE coverage of shopping areas, service and office premises, and the adjacent territories. The area of the BUM shopping and leisure centre is 13,000 sq.m, including 4 stories and an above-ground parking lot for 250 car spaces.

In order to provide the centre with high-quality telecommunications, Russian Towers has designed and constructed indoor and outdoor infrastructure and has prepared the region’s mobile operators to place their equipment for further connection to render high-quality stable services of voice communications and mobile Internet even during the peak periods.

MegaFon PJSC has become the first mobile operator to provide its mobile services throughout the whole territory of the BUM shopping and leisure centre using the indoor and outdoor infrastructure of Russian Towers.

Alexander Chub, President of Russian Towers group of companies, ’A state-of-the-art shopping centre must offer various digital services to its visitors. Sustainable operation of such services is based on uninterrupted access to the Internet and high quality mobile communications, which is only possible if there is a modern and reliable telecom infrastructure. The distributed antenna system of Russian Towers will guarantee a high standard of services offered by telecom operators throughout the whole territory of the BUM shopping and leisure centre.’

Yegor Belyi, Director of the Irkutsk Regional Branch of MegaFon PJSC, ’Our subscribers actively use digital services. They need continuous access to fast mobile Internet and stable voice communications. The ability to share with their friends a picture of a thing they like at a fashion store or their joyful emotions after a film they have just watched makes a visit to the BUM shopping and leisure centre even more comfortable.’

Dmitry Kozhukhovsky, Director of the BUM shopping centre management company (Aksit LLC),

’Immediately after the opening of the BUM shopping centre in April 2019, we have confronted unsatisfactory quality of mobile communications of all operators inside the shopping and leisure centre building, the worst areas were the basement and partially the ground floor of the building. We have agreed on a solution to this issue with Russian Towers that has committed to design and construct a system for amplification of mobile communications for all operators and to install its equipment in this indoor infrastructure at its own expense.

After MegaFon placed its equipment in the shopping centre and connected it to the constructed indoor infrastructure, the subscribers of this operator immediately observed a significant improvement of the quality of communications.

MegaFon will certainly not be able to resolve the issue of poor telecommunications throughout the whole building, so we expect assistance from other mobile operators in installing their equipment as soon as possible. We plan to get feedback from MTS before the end of May this year.

I’d like to make a special focus on the convenience of a partnership with one company that has placed the indoor infrastructure for all mobile operators in the building.

In conclusion, I would like to thank Russian Towers for the professional organization of the technology project that is very important to us, and for assistance in our mobility and comfort through the development of infrastructure for mobile operators in the country in general.’
