Russian Towers Took Part in the 'Challenges Faced by Tower Companies During the Pandemic' round table
Dmitry Popov, Technical Director of Russian Towers Group, took part in the 'Challenges Faced by Tower Companies During the Pandemic' round table at the Critical Connections II: TMT Sector's Covid-19 Response international conference held on 26-27 May 2020.
The discussion was attended by the representatives of international tower companies: Anita Anwar, Protelindo (Indonesia), Randi Clendennen, Atlas Tower Group (United Kingdom), Devin Smith, ABLOY (Finland), and Dmitry Popov, Technical Director of Russian Towers Group, Russia.
The speakers described how the tower market adapted to new operating conditions in different countries throughout the world, how IT and technical support standards were revised, and how relations with customers and partners are now being built and maintained, etc.
Telecom infrastructure is a critical component in maintaining the quality and reliable operation of the entire telecom system. In this connection, the market of telecom infrastructure carriers was less susceptible to the economic downturn caused by the Covid-19 virus. Nevertheless, representatives of the tower industry faced problems such as adaptation to tough social distancing measures, remote telecom infrastructure management, on-the-go development of IT platforms, etc.
In his speech, Dmitry Popov noted the high degree of readiness of the Russian Towers team for any difficulties, spoke about the “RUBAHA”, the company's IT system, which made it possible to transfer all employees to remote work in no time, without compromising quality. Dmitry also named the obstacles the company successfully overcame during the period when movement was restricted and construction work was prohibited in Russia and, in particular, in Moscow.
Alexander Chub, President of Russian Towers Group, said, ‘The circumstances we have faced in recent months have served as a good test of our management practices and, in general, a test of the company's business sustainability. Currently, we can proudly say that Russian Towers have got an "excellent" mark in this subject.’
Dmitry Popov, Technical Director of Russian Towers Group, said, ‘I'd like to emphasise that, despite all the obstacles, we have managed to organise the work of the company in such a way that neither the construction nor the commissioning of the finished infrastructure to accommodate operators was stopped for a single day.’
